Advisories Updated Information from the NCA
The Federation of Law Societies of Canada is closely monitoring the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation and taking steps to prioritize the health and safety of our clients, staff, and the community-at-large. In compliance with government of Ontario orders, the offices of the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) are closed until further notice. Many members of our staff are working remotely so as much of the NCA work as possible can continue.
The Federation continues to work on options for those affected by the cancellation of the NCA exam session scheduled for May. The NCA will offer all May exam subjects in August, along with the subjects previously scheduled for August. Registration for the August exams will open May 1. Those who were registered for exams in May and did not cancel will be automatically moved to the August exam session. We continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will comply with all government and health authority orders in effect for the August exam period.
The expanded number of exams, and the expected increase in the number of exam writers, has required us to change August exam dates. The exam session will now be August 13-14 and August 17-21.
The results of the NCA exams completed in January 2020 were released and posted in the Candidate portal at the end of March. The NCA has processed the requests for Certificates of Qualification resulting from the January exams, but please note the NCA is unable to produce a paper version of the Certificates until further notice. Law societies have been notified accordingly.
We understand that this is a stressful time for all NCA candidates and we are committed to ensuring that you have the information you need in a timely way.
