BAR ADMISSIONS Continue your path to practice
Once you have your Certificate of Qualification from the NCA, you can apply to bar admission programs in Canadian common law jurisdictions, which include all the provinces and territories except for Quebec.
If you wish to become a member of a law society, it is your responsibility to do the research. Also, if you have questions about the bar admissions process, you should direct them to a law society.

Law Practice Programs
Law practice programs offer bar admission candidates in Ontario a rigorous course of experiential training to prepare them to succeed in the legal workplace. If you are in the Law Society of Ontario’s legal licensing process, you may want to consider this option instead of articling at a law firm or other law office. Here are the existing law practice programs available to you:

The Common Law Section of the University of Ottawa is proud to offer the French Law Practice Program (LPP). The LPP offers Canadian law school graduates (J.D. or equivalent) a new pathway to become a lawyer in Ontario. The purpose of the LPP is to facilitate the transition between law school and legal practice while offering the required experiential training. Designed by lawyers who are experts in their respective areas of law and known for their community involvement, our innovative curriculum will teach our candidates to think and act like lawyers. The University of Ottawa LPP’s mission is to promote access to justice for Francophones by training highly qualified lawyers able to offer their legal services in French. Toronto Metropolitan University’s Law Practice Program (LPP) is the innovative eight-month licensing program available to Law http://www.lpp.ryerson.ca/Society of Ontario licensing candidates seeking to get called to the Bar in Ontario. The program runs from August to April, annually. Our program offers rigorous on-line, simulated experiential training for four months, developed and delivered by leaders of the legal profession, followed by a hands-on four month work term. We annually host Information Webinars (typically in February/March.
